September 01, 2015
Avoid foods with the following ingredients:
- beer nuts
- cold-pressed peanut oil (use caution with heat processed type, but this type is typically tolerated).
- ground nuts
- mixed nuts
- Nu-Nuts® flavored nuts
- peanuts
- peanut butter
- peanut flour
- Foods that may contain peanuts or peanut protein:
- African, Chinese, Indonesian, Thai and Vietnamese dishes
- baked goods (cookies, pastries, etc)
- candy
- chili (peanut butter is sometimes used to thicken)
- chocolate (candy, candy bars)
- egg rolls
- hydrolyzed plant protein
- hydrolyzed vegetable protein
- marzipan
- nougat
Note: While peanuts and treenuts (i.e., almonds, cashews, pecans, walnuts, etc) are not related foods, the potential for cross-contamination is high. This means that where treenuts are found, peanuts are also commonly found. It is a good idea to avoid all nuts if you are peanut allergic!
