Peanut Free Diet

Peanut Free Diet

September 01, 2015

Avoid foods with the following ingredients:

  • beer nuts
  • cold-pressed peanut oil (use caution with heat processed type, but this type is typically tolerated).
  • ground nuts
  • mixed nuts
  • Nu-Nuts® flavored nuts
  • peanuts
  • peanut butter
  • peanut flour
  • Foods that may contain peanuts or peanut protein:
  • African, Chinese, Indonesian, Thai and Vietnamese dishes
  • baked goods (cookies, pastries, etc)
  • candy
  • chili (peanut butter is sometimes used to thicken)
  • chocolate (candy, candy bars)
  • egg rolls
  • hydrolyzed plant protein
  • hydrolyzed vegetable protein
  • marzipan
  • nougat

Note: While peanuts and treenuts (i.e., almonds, cashews, pecans, walnuts, etc) are not related foods, the potential for cross-contamination is high. This means that where treenuts are found, peanuts are also commonly found. It is a good idea to avoid all nuts if you are peanut allergic!
